Team UK reveals ambitions to reach Bocuse d’Or podium
Adam Bennett, UK candidate, will compete in the world final of the Bocuse d’Or in Lyon on Tuesday January 27, 2015 – the first day of the two-day competition, which sees 24 nations compete for a place on the highly coveted podium. It will be the second time that he has competed at the world’s most prestigious cookery competition having secured fourth place and best meat prize in the previous world final in 2013, in which Kristian Curtis also won the best commis prize. This year he will be supported by UCB Culinary Arts student, Josh Allen and former UK candidate Idris Caldora.
The team has launched a crowdfunding campaign in a bid to improve Team UK’s chances of success. Team UK’s goal is to raise £25,000 to help put the team in the best position for competing and to help build a strong succession plan for the UK.
Perks available in return for money donated include a Bocuse d’Or postcard, signed team posters, Adam’s 2015 menu brochure and the opportunity to bid for meals at his pub restaurant, The Cross in Kenilworth.
Brian Turner CBE, President of the team, said:
Despite taking part in the Bocuse d’Or since its inception in 1987, we’ve yet to reach the podium which is disappointing given the amount of talent in the UK right now. We’re putting our hopes in a crowdfunding campaign to help raise awareness and the funds required to increase our chances of success not just for this final but for competitions to come.
