Peach's High Field town house Boosts Birmingham
Award-winning independent pub company Peach has played a key role in the revitalisation of Edgbaston's gastro quarter by establishing two successful hospitality businesses there, the latest, The High Field Town House, offering a haven within Birmingham city’s premier suburb.
The High Field Town House, which is next door to the company's thriving gastropub The High Field, offers a refreshingly different place to stay in the city, for leisure and business guests as well as overseas visitors.
As with the design of The High Field, which brought a country pub feel to town, the 12 bedroom High Field Town House majors on country house comfort and style in strong contrast to the high rise, modern hotels that largely make up the Birmingham hotel scene.
Peach invested around £450,000 in the restoration of the classic 1860's Victorian villa which how houses the hotel, to ensure its character and original features are preserved. The hotel design uses natural themes and colours, with a restful pale aqua and grey colour scheme with bolder shades of teal in the Sitting Room, the hotel's answer to a formal reception lobby. Each of the 12 en suite rooms is individually furnished with period walnut and mahogany pieces, fine quality hand-printed English wallpapers from Cotswolds makers and English-woven curtains, carpets and English-made beds.
When we opened The High Field in 2014, aiming to create a country pub in town, it was such an immediate hit that we jumped at the chance to convert the lovely old house next door into boutique hotel rooms with the same vibe,
says Hamish Stoddart, Peach co-founder.
Eighteen months later, we opened the doors to The High Field Town House which is just five minutes away from the centre of the city yet feels a world away amongst the greenery and elegant houses of Edgbaston which is rapidly becoming a chic place to eat, drink and sleep.
Now, almost six months since launch, the hotel is helping attract new visitors to the area, with their associated spend on food, drink and leisure activities in the city. It has also created new employment opportunities both in the front of house and housekeeping teams at The High Field Town House and also to accommodate additional breakfast trade at The High Field next door, which is all good news for Birmingham,
As well as enjoying award-winning food and drink next door at The High Field, the Best Gastro Pub in Birmingham 2016, corporate guests can also make full use of the pub's two private dining rooms for business meetings and business dining.
Both have free WiFi and laptop compatible presentation facilities and are the perfect, flexible venue for meetings and small conferences. Private dining and function menus can be tailored to suit any event and can be served in the private room seating up to 46 people or the relaxed surroundings of the lively eatery.
The High Field Town House and The High Field are managed by Peach partner Sarah Robinson, and Adrian Corry. They are a team that are proud to call Birmingham their home town and host every day of the year except Christmas Day.
