Nominations in six categories at prestigious Stadium Awards 2018

Aston Villa have been nominated in six categories as part of the prestigious Stadium Events & Hospitality Awards 2018.

The awards, sponsored by Heineken, will take place at the Amex Stadium, home to Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club on Thursday 31st May.

The gala event aims to recognise the efforts and dedication shown by the catering, conference and events teams at every football and rugby stadium across the UK and Ireland.

Our nominations are a real acknowledgement of the impressive work that’s been going on behind-the-scenes in hospitality and events over the last year, alongside our partner Levy UK.

Bringing Aston Villa back in competition with the elite football world saw a major overhaul of this area of the business with six figure investment.

Our main suites and lounges, used on both matchday and non-matchday, all received extensive makeovers –  merging modern feel and classic character – while we also launched the high premium offering known as the ‘Directors Club’.

The ‘Directors Club’ is designed for premium hospitality and events, with a contemporary and luxurious new design – and an ability to cater for groups, smaller meetings and private dining.

Our nominations include:

Non-Matchday Mystery Shopper Award
The Non-Matchday Mystery Shopper Award category will be judged in a mystery shopper style sales call.

Shining Star Award
The Shining Star Award category aims to recognise those individuals who are simply outstanding at what they do, and continuously shine. Our nomination is People Operations Manager Max Hayward.

*New for 2018* Best Stadium Events Venue Award
The Best Stadium Events Venue Award aims to recognise the very best stadium events venue within the UK and Ireland.

*New for 2018* Visiting Directors Awards (Football & Rugby)
The Visiting Directors Award categories are voted for by Directors at each club. They are asked to nominate the club where they had the best away experience when travelling with their team.

Matchday Hospitality Award
Reported by professional Salon Culinaire chef judges who experience hospitality at UK and Irish clubs this season using strict criteria.

Overall Matchday Hospitality Award
This award pitches all sized clubs against all, to announce the overall winning UK or Irish stadium.

Laura Worsey, Head of Hospitality, said:

“We’re delighted to see our ongoing efforts rewarded with these nominations.
“Offering best-in-class hospitality is something we’re immensely passionate about and we feel we have come a long way in the last year.
“Passion. Pride. Purpose. There are the three guiding principles club-wide and they very much inspire us to deliver week in and week out at Aston Villa. We’re very pleased this is being recognised at such a prestigious awards ceremony.”

Laura Johns, Head of Sales for Conferences and Events, added:

“It’s been a fantastic year following the partnership with Levy Restaurants – and these nominations back that up.
“We’re very proud of the high quality conferences and events that we host at Villa Park and I feel these nominations show that the future at Aston Villa looks really exciting.”
