Love is in the air at The National SEA LIFE Centre

Love is in the air thanks to Monty the penguin at The National SEA LIFE Centre Birmingham

John Lewis’ lovable penguin Monty has not only made an impression with the general public but he’s also sparked off love interest within the colony of Gentoo penguins at The National SEA LIFE Centre Birmingham, as they have started bowing at each other in preparation for mating!

Monty’s popularity has also led to a huge demand in the new VIP feeding experiences with the penguins. The centre has received numerous calls and bookings from people wanting to get up close and personal with the unexpected stars of the department store’s advert.

Amy Langham, Centre Manager at The SEA LIFE Centre Birmingham comments: “Since the arrival of the colony of our Gentoo penguins we’ve been waiting for them to show signs of mating. Maybe they have been sneakily watching the advert because over the past week, they have started bowing at one another, which is fantastic news for our breeding programme.

“We hope those booked in for the VIP feeding experience really enjoy getting up close and personal with the penguins. All of our visitors love Alf and the gang and Monty’s arrival has made their popularity soar even more.”
