Jaguar Land Rover Displays 16 Remarkable Classic Cars at Heritage Motor Centre

  • Jaguar Land Rover is providing the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon with 16 important British cars for static display, as recently acquired from private collector Dr. James Hull

  • Dr. Hull amassed the largest privately owned collection of British classic cars, with Jaguar Land Rover securing this important collection for the nation earlier this summer

  • Four historically significant Jaguar models, plus 12 other great British motor cars, will be displayed in public for the very first time at the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon, Warwickshire, from Saturday 22 November

  • Select Jaguars from the Collection have recently been pressed into service for the new Jaguar Heritage Driving Experience, launched last week to great acclaim at Jaguar Land Rover’s private Midlands-based Fen End vehicle testing facility

Jaguar Land Rover is providing the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon, Warwickshire, with 16 British classic cars for static display from the extensive collection of 543 cars privately amassed by enthusiastic collector Dr. Hull over the last 25 years and more. Jaguar Land Rover purchased this exceptional collection from Dr. Hull to secure these cars for the nation earlier this summer to guaranty its safekeeping.

Of the 16 cars to be displayed at the Heritage Motor Centre from Saturday 22 November, four are historically-significant and rare Jaguars, including a unique E-type, modified by celebrated Jaguar dealer Coombes of Guildford in the mid-1960s, plus a stunning 1930s SS ‘Airline’ saloon, an aluminium-bodied XK 120 OTS, and a MK II 3.8.

At the heart of the Collection are over 140 exceptional Jaguar models, from the SS100 and alloy XK 120, through to early E-types, plus a Mark X once owned by Sir William Lyons.  These are accompanied by a wide range of British classics; everything from the humble Morris Minor that was the first car Dr. Hull collected, to unusual estate cars and exotic sports cars, many with interesting histories.

Several of the classic Jaguars from the Collection have recently been pressed into active service by Jaguar Heritage and are now being used successfully at the new Jaguar Heritage Driving Experience events –

The display at the Heritage Motor Centre will be the first opportunity for the public to get a flavour of the rest of the Collection and see some of the cars for themselves.  These include a stylish Bentley R-type Continental, a rare Graber-bodied Alvis convertible, an Allard P2 ‘woodie’ estate car – one of only a handful ever built - plus a Mini Traveller, once owned by Lord Mountbatten, in addition to the four concours-standard Jaguars.

Stephen Laing, Curator at the Heritage Motor Centre, welcomes the addition to the museum “These 16 cars not only complement our own outstanding collection of British models but give an insight into one of the most fascinating collections of classic cars in the world.”

Derek Weale, Director of Jaguar Land Rover Heritage, adds,

We are delighted to present these 16 cars from this exceptional Collection to the general public for the very first time.
