Celebrated New Zealand chef Peter Gordon has created an exclusive menu with GBK, available 30th March

Birmingham, 3rd March 2014: Incoming Burger Joy! This week, Gourmet Burger Kitchen will be re-opening its doors following a four week closure to allow for a £350,000 interior and exterior makeover.

Located upstairs in the Mailbox, GBK, which has been spreading the burger love in Birmingham since late 2007, will re-open its doors on 13th March. Always proud of serving up the freshest burgers; GBK combines 100% prime beef, hand selected and traditionally reared on independent farms across the South West counties, with the freshest ingredients and sauces made from scratch every day in each GBK kitchen.

To coincide with the launch New Zealand chef Peter Gordon (who created the first ever GBK menu in 2001) has created Peter’s Menu, an exclusive menu that reflects his pioneering culinary style. Never one to conform, his Duck Confit Burger features succulent yet crisp confit duck layered with a creamy duck liver pâté. Topped with cheddar cheese, crispy shallots, rocket and a fiery ginger and apricot chilli jam, the burger is served in a buttery brioche bun. Sweet Potato Fries with Tamarind Dressing and Dukkah, a fresh Spring Homeslaw with Mint, Pomegranate Molasses and Sumac and a Banana Biscoff milkshake will also be available for a limited time from 30th March.

Katie McDermott, GBK Marketing Director, comments: “After seven years in The Mailbox, it is great to be re-opening the doors at GBK this week after our full refurbishment. We are excited to introduce the burger lovers of Birmingham to the newly designed restaurant and kitchen, as well as the upcoming launch of Peter’s Menu.”

GBK Mailbox will incorporate classic design features such as dark oak wall panelling with antique details and industrial elements. With bespoke printed cork wallpaper as a backdrop, the restaurant has a retro diner feel with laminate table tops, textured timbers and luxury leather.

GBK sets itself apart from the rest with a huge range of handcrafted & adventurous burgers. As well as favourites like The Don, Blazing Sombrero and The Taxi Driver, the GBK menu also boasts lamb, cod, falafel, and even buffalo burgers - ensuring even the most ardent burger buff isn't short of options. Milkshake lovers will also not be disappointed with mind meltingly good shakes including Oreo, Peanut Butter and Honeycomb on the menu.
