Give a new lease of life to your furniture at the Coffin Works
Free furniture restoration and upholstery workshops - the only place in Birmingham running them!
On Friday 5th and 20th June, from 11.30-4.30pm join tutor Garry Hale, a furniture restorator and upholster with over 40 years’ experience, at a free taster workshop at the Coffin Works where you can discover the joys of reviving your grandma’s treasured armchair and learn the essential skills to start your project!
What better place than to hold these workshops than in an historic Jewellery Quarter factory with its tradition of craftspeople; the former coffin furniture factory was itself brought back to life last year as a museum and venue, and with units to let for creative workshops.
Garry, from Andupholster says:
I’ve recently moved my business from France where I have been teaching people how to restore furniture. Now back in the UK, I would like to pass on the skills that I have learnt from tradesmen in Europe. It’s great that the Coffin Works are able to host the sessions which is a fantastic and inspiring environment for this type of workshop. Everyone is welcome, especially beginners.
Suzanne Carter from Birmingham Conservation Trust says:
“There is nowhere else in Birmingham currently offering courses in upholstery, and we are delighted that Garry has chosen The Coffin Works to start his courses and share his skills and passion for restoration.”
Free admission. Drop in between 11.30 am and 4.30pm. For more information please ring Garry on 07938 501186. For details about the venue visit www.coffinworks.org
