Drayton Manor Park offers special day of memories for KidsOut charity

Drayton Manor Park welcomed over 8,000 visitors (and 259 packed lunches) on Wednesday 14th June from visitors to KidsOut charity’s annual ‘Big Day Out’ on their 28th year and biggest gathering to date.

This UK wide event has over 40,000 children visiting attractions around the country and Drayton Manor Park was the biggest event in the UK on the day. The event saw the whole of the Drayton Manor community getting involved to welcome the children as the park was closed to the general public for this incredibly special day.

Organised in conjunction with Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland (RIBI), the day provides underprivileged, disabled and special needs children with a fun and free day out. Drayton Manor Park has welcomed in excess of 32,000 children plus guests over the years.

KidsOut delivers fun experiences to thousands of children throughout the UK who come from difficult backgrounds. This year there were 15 Rotary Clubs represented and they all donned bright blue caps and t-shirts, with every individual leaving with a beaming smile!

Europe’s only Thomas Land™ proved a popular destination for the annual event this year and little thrill seekers thoroughly enjoyed trying out the brand-new ride, James and the Red Balloon which opened in April. Animal lovers explored the park’s 15-acre Zoo and learnt about the exciting conservation initiatives. Children were also delighted to see the latest Zoo arrivals including the twin baby Cotton-Top Tamarins, baby Tapir and Red Pandas!

Colin Bryan, CEO at Drayton Manor Park said:

The KidsOut Big Day Out is one of our favourite events of the year. It’s wonderful to be able to provide these children with such a memorable day out, especially as many of them have never visited a theme park before. We’re truly honoured to be a part of this initiative and want to do all we can to ensure both the kids and adults alike leave with a smile on their faces.

Bill Elliot, Community Services Chairman – Rotary District 1060 said:

We want to thank Drayton Manor Park for their continued support over the years. The Bryan family and the staff always go above and beyond to ensure each visitor leaves with fantastic, heartwarming memories. The whole day was a huge success and we can’t wait to return!
