Creeping it real this Halloween with Selfridges ghoulish beauty event

Double, double, toil and trouble, Fire burn and cauldron bubble … with Halloween almost here, many will be looking to create terrifying transformations.

But Selfridges Birmingham is hosting a series of beauty events over six days this spooky season to help people create killer looks without the horror story. From October 26-31, makeup lovers can enjoy exclusive masterclasses when some of the department store’s leading brands head to the pop-up stage on level 3.

Each day, make-up artists will be on stage for one hour at 11am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm, 5pm and 6pm, offering the best insider ‘tricks’ with the latest products, sharing their top tips for creating wearable, beautiful looks this Halloween, and sharing some ‘treats’.

Choose your favourite brand - or check out a new one you haven’t tried before - to see the latest dramatic looks:

Thursday 26 October
It Cosmetics, Urban Decay and Mac

Friday 27 October
@Glam_Guy Halloween Masterclass

Saturday 28 October
Bobbi Brown, NARS and Giorgio Armani

Sunday 29 October

Monday 30 October

Tuesday 31 October

Guests to the workshops will also be able to get their hands on some exciting costume makeup from Mehron, including liquid latex, stage blood and colour cups. Prices range from £3.50- £4.

Each masterclass seats a maximum 20 people and tickets cost £10, which are redeemable against purchases in the beauty hall on the day. Guests will be welcomed with a glass of prosecco and will take away a selection of complimentary treats from the masterclass make-up brand.

Tickets are available at beauty counters and through Eventbrite

Dying to create a spooky look for Halloween? Selfridges Birmingham is getting into the spirit of things with a range of fun accessories and costumes that will look just the part for any Halloween event this year.

Rita Hazan’s temporary colour hairsprays (£12) in pink, blue and purple are ideal for adding vibrant highlights, streaks, tips and all-over colour without using tints, bleach or peroxide.

Go a whiter shade of pale with ILLAMASQUA Skin Base foundation in shade 01 (£33). This pure white foundation and is always popular in the lead up to Halloween due to its pigmentation and coverage. Add some dramatic lips with ILLAMASQUA Colour-Intense lipstick in Apocalips (£20) and finish off the perfect look with Selfridge’s exclusive SUQQU Duo Liquid Eyeliner pen (£29).

You’ve heard of the Christmas jumper - why not the Halloween jumper? This Chinti and Parker Abracadabra jumper (£350) in black is 100% cashmere and will bring some sophistication to any Halloween event (and it’ll keep you warm when you’re out trick or treating)
Head to menswear for a smart take on Halloween wear, thanks to Oppo Suits, which has four spine-chilling styles for October 31 - the Black-O Jack-O suit with carved pumpkins; the Haunting Hombre suit; the Bloody Harry, which is white with blood splatters; and the Zombiac, which is grey check with bloods splats. Each two-piece suit with matching tie costs £65.

Children can also get in on the fiendish action. Selfridges Birmingham is stocking a new collection of Halloween costumes, including glow-in-the-dark skeleton jumpsuit and mask, Ghostbusters jumpsuit, Dracula waistcoat with cape, and witch costumes. Prices range from £18-£40.

All items are now available in the leading department store in the Bullring. Available while stocks last.
