Brindleyplace backs Birmingham Charities for 2017

Brindleyplace is giving back in 2017 with the announcement of four new charity partners, a first in the estate’s history. All Birmingham based charities, the funds raised at Brindleyplace this year will go towards local people and causes.

Following dozens of applications from both regional and national charities, Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice, Cure Leukaemia, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and NICE, Centre for Movement Disorders were chosen as Brindleyplace charity partners for 2017.

Sam Lawrence, Director of Property Management for Brindleyplace, said:

We’re proud to be supporting four great Birmingham charities and look forward to working with them over the next twelve months. Attracting more and more people each year, our free events represent a great opportunity for each charity to raise valuable funds and make a real difference to the lives of local people.
The creativity and commitment shown throughout the application process by everyone involved was truly inspiring and, as well as being partnered with one of our established main events, each charity will have a chance to host their own event on the estate. With a full calendar of activity ahead of us, we hope the Brindleyplace community and the general public will join in the fun and help back these fantastic causes.

For the third year running, the annual Dragonboat Race, sponsored by Deutsche Bank, will raise funds for Cure Leukaemia, while NICE, Centre for Movement Disorders will partner the outdoor Film Festival, Birmingham Children’s Hospital will benefit from fundraising at this year’s Chilli Festival and activity at the newest addition to the event calendar, Chocival, will support Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice.

Louise Watkins, Fundraising and Marketing Manager at NICE, Centre for Movement Disorders, said:

As a charity, we believe every person with a neurological movement disorder has the right to specialised services, which recognise their needs, desires and wishes and helps them to reach their full potential. We’re delighted to have been chosen as the official partner of the Brindleyplace Film Festival this year, where we’ll be screening a series of short films to raise awareness of the pioneering work that we do.

Charlotte Anson, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice, said:

We’re thrilled to be working with Brindleyplace and can’t wait to start planning what’s going to be a great year of fundraising. As well as a super-sweet sporting challenge for Chocival, we’ll be bringing Light up a Life to Brindleyplace in 2017, where we celebrate the lives of those who are sadly no longer with us and raise vital funds to help us care for local families living with terminal illness.

The Brindleyplace team and their new partners hope to raise a record amount for local causes.
