Board Meeting Bonanza! Child Board enjoy second meeting at Drayton Manor Park and Hotel

Video games, ice cream, ball pits and bean bags; sounds like the furthest thing from your standard office meeting, but that’s exactly what Drayton Manor Park’s Child Board of Directors have suggested as the best way to design a meeting space!

To celebrate Drayton Manor Hotel’s fifth birthday, members of the Child Board met last week (Thursday 11th August) for their quarterly business meeting. After arriving suited and booted, Jayden, Haydar, Jessie, Zane and George donned their gold name badges and put their thinking caps on to come up with new ideas on how the park could improve its events and meeting spaces.

Some of the key ideas included; providing lots of sugary food to keep employees awake, a pool table, a dancing cake on a stand and of course a ball pit and video games. Others suggested including a fish tank, painting trees and owls on the walls, fish shaped balloons, plus burgers and ice cream all day long.

There were also some quirky plans put forward including a Big Brother style meeting room where attendees have to complete challenges; if their ideas aren’t strong enough they get evicted! Alternatively meetings could take place in a pub style like Eastenders, but the delegates have to act in their meeting…not far from the truth for many!

On the day, the little executives also enjoyed an important tour of the Hotel, experiencing the Thomas themed rooms, and they cooked up a storm in the onsite restaurant, The Grill Inn, which also turned five this month.

Donning their chef jackets and hats, the young board members worked alongside Executive Chef, Carl Hickinbottom, to make their very own burgers, BBQ sauce and Smokehouse dry rub. They weighed out ingredients, marinated meat and even learnt the secret behind The Grill Inn’s smoking technique!

George Bryan, Company Director at Drayton Manor Park said:

Our second child board meeting was very successful and it’s great to have some fresh ideas put forward.
This month is particularly special as we’re celebrating both the onsite Hotel and The Grill Inn’s fifth birthday, so we’re really pleased that our child board could help us celebrate in a truly unique way.
