Birmingham children wanted for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang The Musical
Budding young thespians are being invited to audition for the upcoming musical theatre production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, taking place at the New Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham in June. Roles on offer include the two main child parts, Jeremy and Jemima Potts, and a small children’s ensemble with open auditions for all being held this Saturday 27 January.
The show will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the popular musical film, which first screened in 1968, starring Dick Van Dyke.
BMOS Musical Theatre Company, Birmingham’s oldest and largest amateur theatre company which will be staging the production, is one of less than 20 amateur musical theatre companies across the UK to have been invited to perform the musical in a major theatre. This is the first time in the musical’s history that it has been licensed for performance by an amateur company.
John Spencer, Chairman of BMOS Musical Theatre Company said:
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for local talent to take part in an iconic musical and on such a major stage. Our current BMOS members are all extremely excited about it however, as an adult company, we need some confident, talented children to complete our line-up for this show.
Children between the ages of 9 and 14 are invited to audition this Saturday, January 27 at the New Alexandra Theatre. Adult singers and dancers are also invited if they are interested in auditioning to be part of the company and ensemble for the production.
BMOS Musical Theatre Company achieved success last year with its performances of My Fair Lady (June) and Miracle on 34thStreet (November) at the New Alexandra Theatre. The performances of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will take place between Tuesday 26 and Saturday 30 June 2018.
For information on audition times and requirements, and to register to attend the auditions, please contact Claire Hemming (Membership Secretary) at firstname.lastname@example.org or John Spencer at John.email@example.com.
Tickets to see the show go on sale on January 29 and can be purchased through both BMOS Musical Theatre Company and the New Alexandra Theatre.
