Bears record 25 per cent increase in ticket sales for NatWest T20 Blast

Defending NatWest T20 Blast champions Birmingham Bears have achieved a 25 per cent year-on-year increase in ticket sales for this year’s group games at Edgbaston, with 49,573 tickets sold to watch Varun Chopra’s team progress to the Quarter Finals.

As defending champions of the NatWest T20 Blast, the Bears have sold more advance tickets for this season’s group stages than any Club outside of London. They will be hoping for more great support on Thursday 13 August when they take on Essex Eagles in the quarter final at Edgbaston.

Gareth Roberts, Commercial Director at Warwickshire County Cricket, said:

Growing attendances for domestic T20 cricket has been one of our priorities over the last two years, and we are delighted with our progress in selling 97 per cent more tickets for the group stages than in 2013.
We’ve worked hard to make NatWest T20 Blast games more accessible by introducing new ticket initiatives, such as Kids Go Free and Cash for Clubs, whilst also providing additional entertainment that turns matches at Edgbaston into an event that spectators of all ages can enjoy. The benefits of this are being seen in the results of our match day surveys, which have scored better than ever before.”

Tickets for Birmingham Bears NatWest T20 Blast group games originally went on sale through an early bird window in March, whilst a smaller discount was then offered for tickets purchased in advance of a match.

Following a one-match trial in 2014, all tickets were made free to children under the age of 16 for this season. Additionally, local cricket clubs and charities have been able to earn cashback on tickets purchased by their members.

Gareth added:

Our supporters have seen some great performances from the Bears in this years’ group games, with five victories at Edgbaston and a record-breaking innings of 158* from New Zealand star Brendon McCullum against Derbyshire Falcons.
“Hopefully we can continue the great form shown through the group stages and secure another place at Finals Day, which Edgbaston will host until 2018.”

Birmingham Bears NatWest T20 Blast quarter final versus Essex Eagles starts at 6.30pm at Edgbaston on Thursday 13 August. Tickets are priced at £18 in advance for Adults (£22 on the day) and free for Under 16s. Members and T20 Season Pass holders can claim tickets for £12.

Simply visit www.edgbaston.com or call 0844 847 1902 to purchase quarter final tickets.
