£450,000 refurbishment for Broad Street's Walkabout
Walkabout on Broad Street has closed to allow work to start on an impressive £450,000 refurbishment, which will be turned around in just two weeks.
After the makeover, the well-known city centre bar will be totally transformed, on both the outside and in.
Outside, the city centre landmark is due to shed its characteristic green and gold décor, whilst the interior of the bar will benefit from brand-new VIP areas, pre-bookable booths and private areas for parties, meals, club nights and live music.
The new-look venue will also feature an impressive ‘Reef Bar’, where a series of huge linked screens showing coral reef and beach footage will combine with specialist lighting to give the impression of being in a summery, Pacific-Ocean setting.
A state-of-the-art sound and lighting system will top everything off, enhancing Walkabout’s reputation as one of Birmingham’s ultimate party venues.
The refurbishment has created 10 permanent new jobs for the local area.
The all-new Walkabout will celebrate its opening in style with an exclusive V.I.P opening party from 5pm on Australia Day, Tuesday 26th January, and the good news is: everyone is invited.
To attend and experience Birmingham’s best DJs, live entertainment, champagne and canapés from the new menu, people should visit www.walkaboutbars.co.uk/venues/birmingham and put their names on the guest list.
Front row seats can also be pre-booked for all major televised live sports events at the venue. They’ll be shown on giant new projection screens, and multiple, newly installed HD TVs, reaffirming Walkabout’s reputation as the best place in town for that big match atmosphere.
A brand new pie shop will also serve award-winning ‘Pieminister’ pies to sports fans on match days.
Walkabout’s new food menu will also be on offer, with a selection of light bites, main meals, sharing dishes and party platters, along with a brand new drinks menu that includes craft beers, wines and mouth-watering jam jar cocktails, inspired by the spirit of Australia.
Already well known for its legendary party nights and live sports, the new venue has been designed to mean that, combined with inspiring new menu, Walkabout is also now the perfect place for an impromptu coffee, relaxing lunch or chilled out afternoon.
David Hancocks, General Manager, said:
We’ve always been famous for legendary party nights, fun, live music, sport and great food, but now we’ve got a totally transformed venue to make things even better.
We can’t wait for our customers to see the refurbishment for themselves.
