Hotel Roof Goes Green With Social Enterprise Partnership
Hotel La Tour has announced an exciting partnership with visionary social enterprise Edible Eastside. Beginning in September, guests will be treated to freshly grown produce including seasonal fruit and vegetables in the Hotel’s restaurant.
Edible Eastside, based in Digbeth, have established a growing commitment to supplying businesses and educational institutions a space in the centre of the city to master the art of horticulture. The partnership with LaTour will see the social enterprise further their links with the city centre and help aid in the promotion of sourcing independently grown produce.
Jayne Bradley, Garden Director said:
We want food growing in the city to be an every day thing, not a one off project. Hotel LaTour are pioneers of urban food growing and are demonstrating that sourcing locally is the best for the city and for their guests.
Grill LaTour, will serve seasonal vegetables and fruit grown from the roof-top garden that will also serve as a relaxing space for guests and visitors.
Jayne Bradley, continued:
A restaurant that is able to respond to seasonality and the more unpredictable crops that we will be supplying shows a very creative and innovative food team. We expect this with independents, but with a hotel like LaTour, this is truly original and exciting to work with.
Staff at the hotel are looking forward to the arrival of the plants and will also be itching to get their thumbs green by assisting in the maintenance of the garden.
Jane Riley, General Manager at Hotel La Tour, expressed her excitement at working with Edible Eastside:
At Hotel LaTour we have a strong belief in working with independent suppliers like Edible Eastside. The arrival of the garden is an exciting opportunity for us to not only create our own sustainable source of produce but also to get creative in the kitchen
Hotel LaTour are already using produce provided by Edible Eastside’s local allotment space and work on the roof-top garden will begin at the beginning of September.
