Birmingham is incredibly easy to reach. Right in the centre of England, it’s well-connected by road, rail and air.
More than 50 airlines choose to fly out of Birmingham Airport, the UK’s second largest airport outside London, providing connections to over 140 destinations. This includes direct routes to New York, Paris, Dubai, Brussels, Frankfurt and Geneva – to name just a few.
There are major plans to grow the airport, flying even more passengers to many more international destinations. A free monorail shuttle transports people between the airport and Birmingham International railway Station.
Birmingham is at the heart of country’s motorway network with easy access to the M5, M6, M6 Toll, M40 and M42 while the A34 and A38 further add to your options and the M1 is less than 30 minutes away.
As Birmingham is so well connected by road, it’s easy to reach by coach. The refurbished Digbeth Coach Station is a base for National Express who link Birmingham to 500 locations in Europe and 1,200 destinations in Mainland Britain. Including hourly-service’s to and from London and great links to airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick and East Midlands.
The city is well served by rail with Birmingham New Street, Moor Street and Birmingham International stations together having direct connections to over 80 towns and cities across the UK. Birmingham New Street alone has more direct connections than any other station in Europe.
Each station has much to offer. Birmingham New Street is undergoing a major £600 million transformation, by 2015 it will become a spectacular 21st century gateway with the capacity for 52 million passengers each year.
The beautiful Moor Street station, restored to its original 1930s glory, serves over 2 million passengers each year. While Birmingham International, serving The NEC and Birmingham Airport, is convenient not only for commuters but also for leisure visitors and business delegates attending conferences and exhibitions.
