Guest blog: The Ticket Factory's monthly roundup
Our roundup of the best shows, festivals and gigs this month in Birmingham!
The smash hit musical Mamma Mia is on at the Hippodrome now and runs until 3 September!
Join the ultimate feel-good party at MAMMA MIA!, the world’s sunniest and most exhilarating smash-hit musical! Set on a Greek island paradise, a story of love, friendship and identity is cleverly told through the timeless songs of ABBA.
This year marks the 10th Moseley Folk Festival (4-6 September) in Moseley Park! A stunning 11-acre woodland glade in the heart of Moseley Village.
Although it’s just 2 miles from the centre of Birmingham it is a world away from city life and makes an ideal setting for a festival as the ground slopes down into a natural amphitheatre in front of a stunning lake. A healthy mix of traditional, contemporary and experimental folk and acoustic music with The Monkee’s, Idlewild and Spiritualized headlining.
Following on from their infectious Glastonbury performance, Florence + the Machine announce their return to the stage with their first full UK tour since March 2012.
September will see them embark on a 12 strong string of dates which will take them across the country, including a night at Birmingham’s Genting Arena on 19 September! A perfect opportunity to relive that Glasto set.
Michael McIntrye returns with his hotly anticipated brand new stand-up show Happy & Glorious, and is to perform 4 dates at the Barclaycard Arena on 18 & 19, 25 & 26 September 2015.
Michael’s previous tour Showtime was the biggest selling comedy tour in the world in 2012, playing to over 640,000 people including a record-breaking ten-night residency at London’s O2 Arena matching the pop-superstar Rihanna’s 2011 record!
The Cycle Show is the UK's longest running cycling show and over 300,000 people have visited since its launch in 2002. The show which runs 25-27 September has expanded every year and in 2015 it will host over 280 bike companies showcasing their latest kit under one very big roof at the NEC!
The show is a unique opportunity to see hundreds of bikes and products months before they hit the shops. You can meet the brand experts from the top international bike companies as well as the designers and brains behind the leading Brit brands.
With a day dedicated to cyclocross racing for all ages and expertise, the return of the UK’s biggest dirt jumping contest plus an awesome line-up of cycling features to keep you busy all day, the Cycle Show absolutely cannot be missed.
