8 places to sup a summer cocktail
“If you like Piña Coladas and getting caught in the rain....”
I like to think this song perfectly sums up our current situation. If you are enjoying a Piña Colada so far this summer, it is highly likely it will be in the rain, but one thing that is for certain, we LOVE our cocktails in Brum come rain or shine.
So here is our guide to best summer city cocktails.
Forget just picking one summer cocktail, Park Regis 1565 bar has a July cocktail calendar. Expect the delightful likes of Bloody Marys, Espresso Martinis and their own creations including the Parktini. Best of all each day the chosen drink is only £5!
Bar Opus will be serving up some great seasonal cocktails to help you get in the summer spirit. Let their Frozen Kalippo help you cool down or add a zing to your step with the Opus Spritz consisting of asperol, elderflower, grapefruit bitters, orange & prosecco. YUMMMMM
Get those tikki bar vibes in Island Bar with a Polynesian girl (drink not an actual girl), a refreshing blend of Havana 3yo white rum, peach schnapps, lemon, guava, apple & elderflower finished with a dash of Wray & Nephew over proof rum.
By far the ultimate place to get the BEST nachos in Birmingham, but this South American restaurant also does some wicked cocktails. Their team recommend this summer to spice it up with the classic Dark n' Stormy, Old Jamaica ginger beer, orange bitters, fresh lime and dark rum.
This cosy hangout with an outdoor space looking out over Centenary Square is a perfect summer spot, especially with an Arden Forest Julep 7 in hand. This summer drink includes Bols genever, green chartreuse, mint, lemon & pineapple, shaken & served straight up with fresh rosemary - perfect for dessert as well, any excuse we say.
Hard Iced Tea is the South’s* favourite beverage, sweet tea brought to life with Georgia Moon peach-flavoured Moonshine at whiskey specialist bar Buffalo and Rye.
* Deep South of America not Cornwall
GIN GIN GIN, everyone loves Gin so what better place to get your Gin based summer cocktail than the Jekyll and Hyde? Enjoy their twist on a Gimlet, navy strength Gin and lime, with lime preserve and almond syrup.
Relax in the luxury of Resorts World’s High Line Bar and sip on their fruity sweet Chelsea Girl concoction. Not only is it a beautiful coral colour, it includes all the goodness of Absolut Raspberry, Chambord, Lemon, Cucumber and Strawberries topped with Bottega.
