Coventry Road - Shopping
Coventry Road is one of Birmingham’s largest and more culturally diverse shopping areas and home to Birmingham City Football Club.
The area is popular for its Asian clothing, particularly its boutiques offering exclusive dresses and party wear. Coventry Road is an area for everyone, with exotic fruits and vegetables, fresh meat and fish sitting alongside more familiar goods, providing a vibrant and fascinating backdrop to the area. In the shopping area, you will find all you need, whether it’s jewellery, fine fabrics, bookshops and travel agents.
The area has plenty of parks and green spaces including Small Heath Park, which regularly hosts local festivals and fun fairs.
Eating & drinking
The Coventry Road boasts an impressive array of cuisines and something to tempt everyone’s taste buds. The centre is renowned for its Mediterranean and Arabian restaurants and is a spicy alternative to Birmingham’s famous Balti Triangle.
The centre hosts patisseries to rival its Parisian counterparts and is a hotspot for the locals to sit and chat in. If you’re watching the calories, a smattering of healthier bars and cafés can be found where the treats are further out of reach!
Coventry Road (A45) is an international gateway, providing the main link between Birmingham City Centre, Birmingham Airport and the National Exhibition Centre (NEC). The retail centre can be found between the Blues Ground (home to Birmingham City Football Club) and Small Heath Highway.
A number of bus routes run along Coventry Road including: 957, 58, 59A, 60 and 900.
A short walk from the Coventry Road is the Small Heath Train Station, with links to the Birmingham to Stratford-upon-Avon line.
